Kalpitiya located 150 km north of the capital, Colombo is a nature hot spot and fascinating historic Dutch maritime town. It's marine sanctuary in the coastal area is one of the most beautiful places located in the west coast of Sri Lanka.
Very rich bar reefs, flat coastal plains and long stretches of virgin golden sandy beaches, blessed with bright sunshine which illuminates the seabed. This will be the ideal location to enjoy wonders of coral reefs and marine sanctuaries which is a paradise for those underwater enthusiasts.
There are number of shallow diving spots ranging from 14 to 18 meters in depth which can treat you to the beauty of the underwater world. As well as the dazzling color fish that can also be seen on the Bar Reef, Rock Cod, Large Grouper and Humphed Wrasse are also in plenty. As an additional attraction, divers can explore the large underwater caves!
Standard fishing boats equipped with 25 horsepower outboard engines are used to transport the divers and equipment. Diving gear can be hired through Dutch Bay Tours. Accompanied by a licensed master diver, groups of four can dive at a time making it a safe and a memorable diving experience.
